20 months!

I just realized I failed to do a 19 month post, oops, so I wanted to give a quick update on my big girl. We just got back from a family vacation a few days ago and Presley has been running a really high fever. Therefore, I don't have a whole lot of free time to write, but I will post a few videos.

Doesn't 20 months sound old?? In 4 months, I'll have a two year old...

Presley is a chatty little thing, but that's nothing new. She pretty much talks in 3 word sentences, and I love having conversations with her. Sometimes I think she just likes to hear herself talk, so she thows in extra words or repeats herself multiple times. Recently, she has been adding the word "do" to her sentences ex, "I do push" or "I do walk".

She is into all things girly. Doing her hair, putting "makeon" (makeup on), jewelry, shoes etc. I have had several pieces of jewelry go missing along with my hair brushes. I have a feeling this is just a glimpse of what will be happening in her teenage years.

P is very into singing, and I hope this phase stays for as long as possible. I love that she asks me to sing for her, and some nights she will sing along with me.

Presley is also into kissing boo boo's. I happen to have a split lip right now (just from being chapped. No cool story, sorry) and I have been getting kisses all day long. I can't complain about that one... except she occasionally kisses a tad rough and has reopened my cut a few times.

Speaking of rough, she is. This is nothing new.  As much as I complain about it, I kind of love it! I think she has a case of "little dog" syndrome. She's cute and petite, but she can kick your a$$.

Did I mention that she is TWENTY MONTHS!?! I've been getting more and more sad about how big she is getting, especially when I rock her at night. She takes up my whole lap:(. At least she's still letting me rock her, sighhhh. She just seems so big now...

Well, that's all for now folks!

The Sweetest Sound

Presley has recently started singing. I love it more than I can describe. It melts my heart into a million pieces. Some of her favorites are "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", The Barney Song (I ONLY like this song when Presley sings it, otherwise it kind makes me want to gag), and the "A,B,C's". When she sings, her voice gets a little softer and goes up a few octaves. It is the sweetest sweetest sound.

She also requests certain songs at night while I rock her. Unfortunately, Barney is the song of choice, and she makes me sing it over and over and over and...You get the point.
The other night I chose to sing "Jesus Loves Me" and was told, "No!! Barney".
Sorry, Jesus.

If I pause too long between songs, she tells me "sing, sing Mommy". So, I sing and sing. While I don't have the most beautiful singing voice, my grandmother did. Maybe Presley will be blessed with a voice like hers. Either way, it will be beautiful to me.

Presley Picasso

Last Thursday, Presley completed her very last art class of the summer. While it's a bit of a relief for me, I'm so glad we did it. "Scribbles and Dribbles" was a class for toddlers, but they weren't the only ones learning.

Not only did I get a refresher in art history, I also learned to relax. More times than not we would start a project, and I would immediately tense up. However, each class we went to I got a little bit better. With Presley, I figured out that there is no way either one of us (and some unfortunate classmates) were getting out of class clean. Her teacher would always get a good laugh out of Presley because  every single class she would leave completely covered in paint. I am also proud to say that I did not help Presley with her creations. They are all her own. Many times I wanted to get her to fill in a part of the paper that had a little to much white, but I restrained myself.
Presley also really enjoyed music time at the end of class. Her favorite part was getting to pick her instrument out of the big blue bucket. Generally, she would spend the first part of class trying to get into the bucket when she wasn't supposed to. This also made her teacher laugh ;).

Each week, we studied a new artist and then created a piece of art based on that artist. Here are Presley's creations from the class:

Week 1:
Paul Cezanne
"I will astonish Paris with an apple".

Apples and Oranges (1899)

Week 2 and 3:
Sadly, we missed because of Traffic and then our trip to Mexico

Week 4:
Claude Monet
"My garden is the most beautiful masterpiece".
Bridge Over a Pond of Lillies (1899)

 Michelangelo
"Every block of stone has a statue inside it, and it is the task of the sculpture to discover it".

Week 5:
Pablo Picasso
" You know, music, art-these are not just little decorations to make life prettier .They are very deep necessities which people can not live without".
The Old Guitarist (1903)

Week 6:
Jackson Pollack
"On the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting".
Number 1 (Lavendar Mist) (1950)

Week 7:
Georges Pierre Seurat
"Some say they see only poetry in my painting; I see only science".

La Port de Gravelines (1890)

The kids were also given a canvas to work on throughout the weeks. I love Presley's and can't wait to hang it!

No Razor Required

We have been getting a little desperate for indoor activities around these parts. With a super energetic toddler, it's almost cruel to keep her cooped up inside. Therefore, my only option is coming up with new things to do indoors. After racking my brain for something fresh, an old favorite of my Pre-K kiddos came to mind.

Shaving Cream!!!

"Seriously Mom, your just going to squirt it right on the table"??

"Are you sure this is okay? I mean just look at my hand"!

"Ok, then. Let me just try it out a little bit more".

"Alright, this stuff is pretty cool".

"I'm just going to jump right in, if you don't mind".

"Wow! Look at my messy hands"!!!

19 month Celebration @ Sealife Aquarium

My big girl turned 19 months last Friday!!! I can't believe that she will no longer be in the "teens" next month. Her 19 month birthday was super duper special because Mimi came for a visit and spoiled her rotten as usual. We decided to take Presley to the new Sealife aquarium in Grapevine

P loves fish! Every time I take her to the peditrician, she runs over to the fish tank exclaiming, "fish, fish"! Then she smashes her face to the class and stares. I'm pretty sure they hate me there after they have to clean the smeary mess that's left behind on the tank. Anyway, I was so excited to see what Presley would think of the aquarium.

I think the following pictures will pretty much speak for themselves:

She was totally mesmerized by all the fish! I loved watching her.

At one point in the aquarium, you have to go across a tunnel that is all glass (including the floor). At first, it bothered Presley to walk over it and she hesitated. However, it didn't take long before she got the courage to go across...again and again and again. It turned out to be one of her favorite parts of the aquarium.

Here she is in the tunnel watching the fish below her.
and that's pretty much how she stayed until we convinced her to move along.

My Mom and I both loved the sting ray's. They were so cute! They would come right up to you. We loved it when they would pop their heads out of the water and swim backwards.

Aren't these some cute sting ray's?? Who knew!?!

There was also a fish tank that had a little cut out and you could pop your head in it and see the fish.

And  a view of what the fish get to see when Presley is staring at them:

Such a special 19 month celebration!
