Big Girl Bed: Update

I am very happy to report that P's transition to her toddler bed has gone extremely well. I didn't expect it to be very traumatic for her, but you just never know how a toddler is going to deal with change.

The first nap in her bed went perfect, but the first night scared her a little. We layed her down awake and she fell right to sleep, but then woke up about 2 hours later. She was crying really hard for me and saying she was scared. I have never heard her say the word scared before. It made me so sad to think that she was afraid in her new bed. I went in and rubbed her head until she calmed down, and she stayed asleep until the next morning.

Then that next morning she started yelling out for me, and telling me she was scared of the alligators. Oh boy! That was another thing I had never heard before. I just knew that it was going to get worse (but it hasn't).

The next night I brought out her Twighlight ladybug nightlight, and turned it on before I left her room. She loves her night light, and we haven't had a problem since. Presley still plays in her bed until Brandon or I go and get her. Man, I really hope this continues! Transition and change always make me nervous, but P has always handled it well. I'm so proud of my big girl!

Update: I wrote this post on Tuesday. This morning I looked at the baby monitor and P wasn't in her bed. It kind of startled me because she hadn't made any noise to let me know she was awake. I walked into her room and she was sitting in her glider, holding her twighlight ladybug, with her  PJ pants turned inside out. So much for her staying put...

*On a side note, I am having another ultrasound tomorrow morning to check again for any new signs of Downs. They will also check to see if my placenta has moved up. I've been praying like crazy that we have good findings tomorrow. Oh, I also have my glucose test tomorrow, so let's hope I pass! I'll update as soon as I can.

Sicky

I've got a sick little girl on my hands.

On Saturday, Presley woke up from her nap with 102.5, so I took her to the Urgent Care around the corner. Turns out my little lady probably has strep throat. We left the doc with a prescription for amoxicillian, and high hopes she would be back to normal in no time.

Wrong.

Today marks her 4th day with fever. High fever...like 103. I've already been back to her pediatrician for a second opinion. They think she might have a virus on top of the strep. The good news is they tested her for the flu and that came back negative. I sure hope my poor baby gets better soon!

On the bright side, P loves to give herself medicine. I'm very thankful because she has to take her antibiotic 3X a day on top of Motrin to keep her fever down.

It's also nice getting in extra cuddle time.

and no matter how bad she is feeling, I can always get a smile.

Friday Phone Dump

Presley LOVES coming to my OB appointments. She is always the center of attention, and she gets to listen to her baby's heartbeat, as well (kind of looks like she is ready to give birth).

P and I with our legs kicked up enjoying the gorgeous spring weather we have been lucky enough to have.

Sunning in her chair.

I am obsessed with her little yellow flats! Lucky for me so is she. Doesn't she look like such a big girl in them? Also, a big thanks to my cousin Jake and his beautiful wife, Casey, for Presley's outfit.

And again with the yellow flats. I can't help it!

Waiting to go inside Lego Land.

Petting the lego giraffe.

Cousin Jackson got to come too!

Riding the lego puppy.

And singing karaoke at the Princess Lego area.

Presley and Brooks snuggling in his bed. It's cute now, but not so much a few years from now.

This pic melts my heart. I caught Daddy laying next to P's bed while putting her to bed for the night. Such a sweet pair!

Starbucks coffee and low fat cinnamon swirl cake. Makes my heart (and baby) happy!
Another wonderful week, come and gone!

PTM 7/52- Pretty Ugly

The theme choice this week was pretty ugly (finding beauty in the unexpected) or smooth. I chose pretty ugly.
I'm pretty sure only a Mom could find the beauty in a mess this ugly...
and my picture was chosen again this week. Once again, I am completely blown away especially seeing my picture up against the other picks this week (kind of makes me want to hide mine).

Happy Monday everyone!

Big Girl Bed

We finally converted Presley's crib into a toddler bed. I can't believe this time has come. Well, the time has been here. I've just been dragging my feet. Presley is an awesome sleeper and will stay in her crib, wide awake, talking and singing to herself until I come and get her. I hope she will do the same in her big girl bed.
At nap time today, I laid her in bed wide awake like I always do. She talked to herself until she fell asleep like she always does. So far so good!

And of course, I had to document his momentous occasion with lots of pictures:

Last climb over the railing

Exploring her bed without the front half

Daddy putting up the toddler rail.

Testing out her new bed for the first time.
Hopefully, tonight will go just as seamlessly!

The rest of our Valentine's Photo Shoot

Presley must have been feeling the Valentine's love because she was all for getting her picture taken. I let her choose which prop she wanted, and she picked the white iron bench. It wasn't my first choice, but it made her happy, and that's what counts, right???

A PINTERESTing Valentine's

Let me begin by saying that I am not crafty. Honestly, crafting just makes me want to drink because it stresses me out so much. The thing is I wish I liked to craft. This is where having a toddler to live vicariously through comes in handy. I live out my "I want to be crafty" dreams through her, and then I don't have to worry about how it looks in the end because it was made by said toddler.

Pinterest has made crafting for holidays so easy, and I'm pretty sure P and I did almost every Valentine craft I pinned. Here are a few of the ones I documented.

Grandparent Gift #1:
I loved the way this Valentine came out. It was so easy, and I just used stuff I already had around the house. This one we made for the grand/great grandparent's. No peeking Mimi and Daddy Bob. You will get yours eventually...

Grandparent gift #2:
We made this one for the Grandparents (also) and Daddy (Once again, Don't look Mimi and Daddy Bob). It came out cute, but my handwriting is on it, so that automatically ruins it for me.

Presley's MDO teacher gift:
This is a variation of one that I saw all over pinterest. I used to make these a lot, but used a rolo and topped with a pecan. The one on pinterest used the square pretzels, with the black and white striped Hershey kisses, and Valentine's M&M's. I made a bad judgement call and braved Target the day before Valentine's, so they were out of everything but the M&M's. Oh well! I just made my normal rolo recipe, but topped with the M&M's instead of the pecan. So yummy!

Presley's class Valentine's:
P's MDO did a cookie exchange, so we made fish shaped cookie's along with the swedish fish. I didn't want to pay for the printables, so I just free handed the fish bowls and then we painted them with blue finger paint. We put different sayings on them such as, "So glad were in the same SCHOOL", You've got me HOOKED", and "You're the only fish in the sea for me". (Sorry for the horrible horrible picture quality)

The cookies themselves turned out to be a beast of a different nature. I originally pinned a really easy sugar cookie recipe, and they completely fell apart after they had cooled. I was so disappointed. So, Once again I braved Target at 8:00 pm the night before Valentine's and ended up buying the pull apart sugar cookies. I found out they really suck at keeping their shape, but it was too late to make another kind. I figured two year olds wouldn't complain too much about an ugly fish shaped sugar cookie. The most important part was Presley had a total blast making the first ones.

Our V-Day Morning

This is what P and I woke up to on Valentine's morning. I loved that he got both of his girls flowers! Presley also got a card and a mickey mouse, and I got a card and dove peanut butter chocolates.

While Brandon was getting ready for work, I snuck in his morning Valentine. A large Dr. Pepper and a McDonald's bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. My husband has a serious Dr. Pepper addiction!

Presley was soooo excited about getting her own flowers, and of course, her Mickey Mouse.
 ~ A Daddy is a Daughter's first love~

She was even thrilled about opening her card.

We had to wrap up our Valentine's morning pretty quick because P had Mother's Day Out. I packed her a heart themed lunch to take to school.

I tried to get a picture of her cute Valentine's outfit , but she just wasn't in the mood to sit still. I did happen to catch a smile and half of her outfit though.
Brandon decided to come with us to drop P off at school. It was such a great morning. I wish all mornings were like this!

We also had a Valentine's surprise waiting for Presley when she came home from school (thank you Target dollar spot). Here is some video of her opening it.
(By the way, this is just one of multiple Valentine's post. My apologies).
