To Sleep or Not To Sleep

To sleep or not to sleep was this weeks prompt for my Paint the Moon weekly photo challenge. When I saw it, I knew this would be too easy.  If it's up to Presley, NOT to sleep is always the answer.

Because she had an ear infection, I let her nap in my room. And by nap, I mean stay in a confined space, so I can get something done during the day.

To Presley, it means do absolutely anything, but the actual act of taking a nap.

On the off chance this girl does actually give in and fall asleep...even just for 20 minutes...You can pretty much count on her not falling asleep until 11:00 at night or later.

Is my child the only one like this?

Harper:10 Months

So I thought I was late with all her other monthly posts, but this one takes the cake. Three days before Harper turns 11 months, here is her 10 month post:

Here is what Harper has been up to during her 10th month:
  • She is walking and has been for over a month now.Having two mobile children is a little crazy, but I have actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.
  • Sumo style. This is how we refer to the way Harper stands, walks, and squats. She is very bowlegged, but I think she has to be with all those rolls!
  • Still napping twice a day. One from 10:30am to 12:30pm and another around 3pm until 4:30ish.
  • Sleeps from 7:30pm to 7:30-8am.
  • Takes 4, 6 ounce bottles a day
  • Loves to eat! She wants anything and everything, and enjoys it all. She is pretty much eating everything we eat, just in smaller bites. Being the second child, she has gotten a lot more tastes of  sweets than I would like, but whatever.
  • wearing most 12 months clothes, but can also wear 9months and some 18 months.
  • still in size 3 diapers, but currently wearing size 4. Why? because I have a whole box and don't want to buy.anymore.diapers.!!!!
  • Sister girl has found her voice. She is LOUD! She gets much enjoyment out of hearing herself scream. Oh, and if you make her mad. She isn't shy about letting you know.
  • She is understanding so much now. She knows when she isn't supposed to do something, and will look at me to see if I'm watching her. I personally think it's the cutest things ever. For some reason, trying to stick her fingers in the outlets is a fav.
  • If I tell her it's bath time, she will walk herself into the bathroom and wait by the tub. She also knows what "nap" means and whines every time I say it. Everyday she picks up on more and more words.
  • can identify her nose, mouth, and hair.
  • aside from her usual words (baba, dada, mama), she has started saying, "no, no, no", and  "cat", but thats about it. Her favorite form of communicating is a very high pitched whiny sound. I hear this a lot. Most of the time it's cute. Most of the time...
  • Very into imitating. If I brush my hair, She "brushes" her hair. If I talk on the phone, she puts her hand to her ear...
  • Can NOT fight the urge to dance when music comes on.
  • Loves to bite me, and pull Presley's hair. She thinks it so funny! I do not. However, I don't think she's intentionally being mean.
  • Has the most sad, pathetic pouty face in the world. If I give her a stern look when she's doing things she shouldn't (see above), she will curl her lip down. Then look at the ground and back at me and then come the water works. It gets me every time.
  • Loves babies/stuffed animals. She carries them around, snuggles them, and pats their backs. Then hands it over to me to do the same.
  • Is always putting clothes on. No matter what article of clothing it is, she is usually putting it on her head.
  • Still thinks Presley hung the moon. This month they have really been able to play with each other, and it's so nice to watch.
  • Still loves to snuggle with me. She is such a great little cuddle buddy
As with all these posts, I feel like I can never write enough to truly describe everything that Harper is doing. I just love this stage so much, and am going to soak in every ounce of it I can. She is the best baby, and I feel so blessed to be her Mommy!

Happy 10 Months, HG!

Phone dump: Month in Review {March}

Too say I'm behind on my blog is a gross understatement! Not to mention, I've been having computer issues, so blogging has been difficult. I think we finally have it figured out though, so get ready for a giant catch up post...

Presley got to go bowling for the 1st time. She enjoyed it for a little bit, but was over it after the first few rounds.

A very rare nap. She did not go to bed in this get-up. In fact, most "naps" are spent changing clothes and shoes.

Harper got her very 1st taste of spaghetti. She loved it, but then again, there isn't much she doesn't love.

We got lots of great park time!

My sweet girl was sick for the very first time. It was gone the next day, so who knows what it was? Doesn't she look pitiful?

We celebrated Poppa's 60th birthday (my father in law) at Babe's Chicken. It was so good! We also ran into a mushroom out on the street. I, personally, thought he was a duck, but whatever...

Of course, we had to visit the Easter bunny! Presley was so excited to go. I was a little worried about Harper's reaction, but she wasn't the least bit afraid. As soon as she saw him, her little legs started kicking . Harper also got to try apple juice for the first time (it's a long story, but it wasn't on purpose). It was like crack. She couldn't stop drinking it, and cried every time we took it away.

After Easter, I left Presley with my parents for a few days. Having one child is a piece of cake, and it was really nice getting to spend some special time with my baby.

This doesn't really even cover half the month, ha! But...I feel a little less behind. Now to get caught up with April...

Easter Weekend 2013

Easter weekend was celebrated in Houston again this year. Good thing the Easter Bunny/Santa always knows where to find us because our family is all over the place when it comes to holidays.

Presley was so much fun this year because she really understood everything, and was excited. She gave many different accounts of the resurrection of Jesus, and had a blast hunting eggs. Her cousin, Jackson, was incredibly fast, so we had to help her out a little.

Harper and Lyla were just content to play and/or eat their eggs. They did not call each other and plan their outfits in advance. This was a complete coincidence.

and because this is the last year I will be able to get away with it. We stuffed Harper in her Easter basket.

Since everyone was together, we celebrated all the March/April birthdays. We had two pretty big ones this year. My Mamaw turned 92, and my Dad turned 60!

Presley didn't get a chance to blow out the candles, so a huge meltdown ensued. And well, the candles were relit, and all was well in the world again.

I'll wrap up this post with some random cell phone shots (blogger is acting weird and not letting me put them in the order I want). The rest of the weekend was filled with swimming, dying Easter eggs, and seeing what the big bunny brought.

We hope everyone had a fabulous Easter! I know we did!

92

Happy 92nd birthday to the sweetest,  kindest, spunkiest, most giving grandmother I know! This world would be a better place if it had more Mamaw's in it. And of course, a big happy birthday to my Dad who turned 60 in March. He's the guy on the right intensely blowing out the candles;).

Wordless Wednesday: Silly Rabbit
