3 Months!

Miss Priss is three months old today. That is just crazy to me! While I miss her sweet newborness (pretty sure I just made up that word), I absolutely love this age. She has really started to develop a little personality, and for the very best part...well, I'm afraid to type it in case I jinx myself...the crying fits magically disappeared almost 3 weeks ago. I survived!!!

This little lady:

* loves to "stand up". Girls got some strong legs.

* chews on her hands all day long, and if she can't get to her's then she is after anyone elses within reach

* is a slobber monster. All her outfits are completely soaked 10 minutes after she gets them on.

* is chunkalicious! I love me some baby rolls.

* Babbles, laughs and smiles all the time

* figured out how to roll over

* is the proud owner of TWO chins!

* loves to rock out to my Jack Johnson radio station on Pandora

* prefers to be held facing out, so she can see everything

* can now grab hold of her toys

* is the BEST!

I could go on and on, but I will refrain...for now...
Seriously, I love watching my sweet baby girl discover the world around her, and getting to be there to witness all of her firsts. She is growing and changing literally right before my eyes. Makes me kind of scared to blink!

Love you, Baby girl!

(The pictures of her in the chair, while not her best, make me laugh hysterically!)

I Want Candy...

Oh, Easter, there are so many reasons why I love you. Sadly, your candy is one of them. I wait in chocolate anticipation every year for these little treats.

Yep. Ask my Mom. We still get Easter baskets from the "Easter Bunny" and this is always my one request.

I also anticipate this malted goodness

But this is, perhaps, the very best Easter candy of all

Tales from the Crib: Postponed

I have a very sick little girl:( We both have upper respiratory infections, so maybe I'll start next week. For now, I'm going to enjoy having my little roommate. Also, thanks for everyone's comments, emails, and facebook messages. I've gotten lots of great advice and am thankful that I'm not the only one!

Tales from the Crib

So here it is...

I know my almost 3 month old should be sleeping in her crib. However, I love her sleeping in our room. NO, she does not sleep in the bed with us. At least I have that going for me. Every day, I wake up determined to transition her to her crib, and then when nighttime comes I change my mind. It doesn't help that her Father keeps coming up with excuses about why we shouldn't put her in her crib, as well. Part of me is being selfish and afraid that my baby who sleeps through the night will start waking up again once in her crib. I also like it because I can hear her every move ,and I know she is safe and sound. This, however, means even though I'm sleeping, I'm not really sleeping soundly. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time. I've gotta be strong and give the baby the boot.

I figured this could be an interesting experience and plan on making this a sort of blog series. Also, this is the only way I am going to hold myself accountable...going public. I would also love any and all advice, tips, stories etc. from anyone who has been through this before.

Hope you enjoy my Tales from the Crib!

Snow Way

Seriously, I really really loved the snow this winter, but enough is enough. My toes were very happy to be hanging out in flip flops all week last week, and they do NOT wish to go back into hiding. Therefore, in my winter protest, I will be wearing them in the snow. Isn't that the official Texas winter get up anyway? Hoodie/fleece, jeans, and flip flops? I would also like to add that Presley has seen as many snows in her short 2.5 months than I have seen in my 28 years (up until this winter). CRAZY!

Roll Over, Roll Over...

**WARNING: you might want to turn the volume down on your computer. Other than the fact that my voice is completely annoying, I start screaming towards the end**

Holy Moly!!! My child rolled over today!! I never thought this day would come since she despises tummy time. To be honest, I have been slacking in that area. She makes it sound like I'm torturing her the minute I place her on her tummy. Well, this past week I decided I was going to get better about doing it. Well, first thing this morning I plopped her on her tummy and over she went! Of course, this was followed by me screaming with joy and scaring my poor baby half to death.
Here is a video of her rolling over again this afternoon. Yes, I have been stalking her with the camera until she did it again.

Presley Laughing

"When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. So there ought to be"

This video was taken with my phone and it was too dark to actually see her, sorry. However, you can hear her sweet little laugh pretty well. I would like to apologize in advance for my horrible voice. So embarrassing...

And yes, I do know the rest of the words. She just doesn't find them funny...

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I love St. Patrick's day! Not really sure why? Maybe it's just a great excuse to wear green, pinch people who don't, and drink green beer! Anyway, I just wanted to share my very favorite Irish blessing:

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again may the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Wedding Madness

It's officially begun! Mel's wedding is just around the corner. May 8th to be exact! This means wedding showers, planning bachelorette parties, engagement pictures, bridal portraits, and a stressed out mother of the bride trying to get everything done.

Last Saturday was Mel's first wedding shower and it pretty much rocked! It was "bow only" so she didn't have to spend hours opening presents and had time to visit with family and friends. The hostess's were my Mom's BFF's, Nancy and Glenna. They did a wonderful job, especially on the pinot grigio punch. I'll post the recipe. Trust me, after seeing the picture, your going to want it.
The Punch. Ahhhhh- mazing!

The spread

Melissa and Justin Wilcox. These were so yummy. I'm pretty sure I ate about 12.

The bride to be and I (aka my sister).

Nancy, Mom, and Glenna (these three together = trouble).

Kallie, Katie and casey with Presley...not having her best moment.

Katie with Presley...beautiful ladies!

Another beautiful pair. Jena and Miss P.

Cousins!

Okay, here is the recipe for the punch:

PICNIC SANGRIA
1 (750-ml) bottle white wine
1 cup peach schnapps... See More
1/2 c frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 nectarines, sliced
1 cup green/red grapes whole or sliced (frozen)
Freeze grapes in ziploc baggie. Combine all other ingredients in a large pitcher. Cover & chill at least 2 hours overnight). Stir before serving. Makes 8 cups.
The frozen grapes keep it chilled w/out watering it down w/ice cubes!

On a completely random note, today is my Dad's birthday. He's the best in the world. Love you Dad and Happy Birthday!!!!!!

2 month check up

Yesterday was Presley's 2 month doctor's appointment. I have been dreading it because she was going to get 3 shots, yuck! Well, I worried for nothing. She was such a brave little girl. She cried for maybe 30 seconds, and then she was all smiles. I may or may not have shed a tear though. I know...I've turned into such a mushy person, blah.

So here are my little lady's stats:
75 percentile for weight- 11lbs. 3oz.
75 percentile for height- 23 inches
Between the 25th and 50th percentile for her head. Woo hoo! finally getting a little bigger!

They also had to give P an oral vaccine. They warned us that a lot of babies don't like it, and we may have to trick her by giving it to her with the help of her pacifier. Not my baby! She loved it! It was hilarious. She kept licking her lips after it was all done. The nurse said it tastes sweet, so it looks like Presley is going to have a sweet tooth like her Mama...poor thing.

2 Months!

Dear Presley Elizabeth,

Holy Moly, your 2 months! I can't believe it! You have changed so much! It has been amazing to get to watch you discover this big world around you.

In your short two months you can now:

Smile. BIG FAT SQUISHY SWEET AMAZING SMILES!

Sleep. 7-8 hours in a row to be exact and then after your feeding you usually fall back asleep until around 10:30am.

Laugh. Yep, it shocked the pants off me. You giggle and laugh out loud. I thought I was crazy because it's so early, but Mimi confirmed it and she is a professional.

Stand. okay, okay, not technically. You can now bare weight on your legs and you love to push off of my lap and tummy so you can stay upright. You are one strong little booger.

Talk. So like the post above, your not actually talking. However, you coo, babble, and grunt all the time. It is the sweetest thing. I LOVE hearing your baby voice.

Scream. Yes, my dear, you have started to scream and cry at almost 8pm on the dot. Colick, gas?? Who knows, but we all brace ourselves around the "bewitching hour". Lets hope this one doesn't show up in the 3 month post.

Blow Bubbles. Lots and lots of bubbles!

In your short two months you have:

Grown. Goodbye newborn diapers, Hello size 1. Also, 0-3 fits almost perfect and this means we don't have much longer in them, tear...

Discovered. The wonder of television and baby Einstein, your fist (which you love to suck on during tummy time), and objects/toys/mobiles that you now swat at and track with your eyes.

Traveled. You took your first car trip to Houston and did great. I did, however, have to feed you in the back of my car at a truck stop in Willis, Texas. Guess I can check that one off my bucket list!

Eaten out. Yep and at some pretty good places like Twisted Root, J. Willy's, Nordstrom Cafe (3x), and Mexican Inn just to name a few.

Socialized. You have met almost all my family and Brandon's, and you've even had a few play dates. We are still waiting to meet one very special person and we can't wait. Aunt Brittani, we are so excited to see you in March!

You are such a blessing, sweet girl!

Love,

Your Mommy and Daddy

Paranormal Activity?

Please don't think I'm crazy. I know I already posted about being scared of the baby monitor.

So here it is...

The other morning I had Miss Priss laying in my lap. She was cooing and smiling at me like she usually does. However, I looked down a few seconds later and she was smiling huge gummy smiles and giggling at something over my shoulder. It was 7:30 am so I knew Brandon wasn't up, but I turned around to check anyway. No one was there. It totally freaked me out. I had kind of forgotten about it, until she did it again. This time it was my Mother in law who was holding her. She called me in the living room to tell me Presley's "visitor" was back. My MIL thinks it's my Mama Jody singing to her because Presley gets completely relaxed and so happy. Who knows? I'm just glad that other people have witnessed it besides me. I guess we will have to wait and see if her "visitor" returns...
